The Intrepid Strikes Again
We are thankful and humbled to take home the gold medal in the Winter Warmer category at the Alaska Craft Beer and Barleywine Festival’s competition this past weekend. 2024 is the second year in a row we’ve taken home a Gold medal in one of the two winter beer categories at this classic Alaska beer festival (last year we took home the gold in the Barleywine category with Apocalyptic Sky Trumpet.) Congratulations to all of the other breweries from across our state and beyond that took home medals – the competition was extremely fierce this year.
This win marks the second prestigious win for The Intrepid. It won a bronze Great American Beer Festival medal in the Wood and Barrel-Aged Strong Stout category in 2021. The Intrepid is a true labor of love for us and a true taste of our great state. We brew this imperial stout with buckets of rich, goey late-run Alaska birch syrup which lends notes of caramel and toffee, plus heaps of handpicked Alaska Sitka spruce tips, giving it unique red berry characteristics. Then, we age it for over a year in American whiskey barrels to impart notes of wood and whiskey. The result is nothing short of spectacular.
2024’s The Intrepid will release in 500ml bottles in the coming weeks at our Downtown Anchorage and Ted Stevens Airport Brewpubs. Stay tuned for a release date announcement soon.
